Crustiq opened on Town St in Horsforth in the new year, and it’s a very welcome addition to the area.
I’d heard tales of delicious breads and cookies, so was instantly lured to Crustiq on a cold and icy Monday lunchtime. Upon entering, there was a lovely hum of chatter, with many tables full of customers enjoying tasty treats. We were welcomed warmly by the staff, and were soon sat at our table (adorned with some lovely sprigs of flowers) to peruse the menu.
Crustiq’s lunch menu
At the top of the menu, the team states “Here at Crustiq, we would like you to have the best experience.” It’s a nice touch, and this sense of wanting their customers to be happy is reflected in everything the team does and delivers.
For lunch, the menu is split helpfully into sections; vegan, vegetarian, and meaty. I opted for the Tabbouleh Chicken Salad, which is served with satisfying chunks of sourdough, and I had a pot of English Breakfast tea with it. And what a pot it was – look…
Everything I devoured in Crustiq was delicious. The lunch portion was generous and very filling, with the serving plate going deeper than I first thought.
The tabbouleh salad was fresh and zingy, and the chicken was nicely charred and flavourful. The sourdough was incredible; I loved the crunch of the crust and the fresh, soft dough within made it very moreish. I couldn’t quite finish my last chunk, but couldn’t bear to leave it, so I safely stowed it in my coat pocket to enjoy later with a cup of tea. However, my tea at home felt like a poor comparison to the loose leafed delight served at Crustiq. If you’re patient enough to let it brew properly, you’ll be well rewarded with a deeply flavoured, yet refreshing brew.
Mr M had the Gravadlax served on Rye Sourdough and was as impressed as I was, and left just as full.
Horsforth’s new bakery
Custiq is a great addition to Horsforth Town Street. The amount of enticing bakes on offer is as exciting as it is impressive; you can pick up loaves of freshly baked sourdough, as well as other breads, croissants, cookies, cakes, cheesecakes, tarts and pies. There’s so much on offer, and I love that we can see the bread ovens where the magic happens at the back of the cafe.
Crustiq will be serving cold dishes throughout January, and promises to add hot food to the menu from February. Watch this space for what’s to come from the team; it’s bound to be delicious.
